Vassula has been sent this letter about the situation there:
The situation in the south is desperate. By God's Grace, Fr. July was already in Manila for a Retreat when the super typhoon struck, he is our speaker for this Saturday's TLIG Anniversary celebration, so we will have the opportunity to work out our assistance project with him. His hometown of Basey, Samar has been wiped out, some of his relatives are in the hospital knocked down by debris. His trip back to Samar has been postponed because the airports have been destroyed and have no power until now.
A friend of his, a priest who supports TLIG has a school in the most ravaged city, Tacloban, was finally able to communicate yesterday by SMS telling me most of his school is in ruin and is housing people around who no longer have roofs nor walls. So far, 10 of his people have perished and they are not able even to retrieve their bodies. They are eating root crops, coconuts blown by the wind, unripe bananas, and are slaughtering what livestock they have left to feed the people. Our TLIG Association will send financial help directly to him, our TLIG Tacloban and Samar Prayer Groups, and the nuns of our TLIG Community. This way we are sure the funds are used efficiently.
